Dr. Karen Aubrey is Provost and Executive Vice President for Gardner-Webb University. As chief academic administrator, Dr. Aubrey oversees teaching, learning, scholarship, and research initiatives at Gardner-Webb University. Through collaborative work with deans, departmental chairs, and other Vice Presidents, Dr. Aubrey administers faculty appointments and promotions, and tenure. In addition, Dr. Aubrey ensures the quality of Gardner-Webb’s curricula and student learning.

Accreditation

Gardner-Webb University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097: Phone: (404) 679-4501) to award Associate, Baccalaureate, Master’s and Doctoral degrees. Inquiries to the Commission should relate only to the accreditation status of the institution, and not to general admission information.

The Commission on Colleges, Gardner-Webb University’s regional accrediting agency, is recognized and certified by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

In addition several departmental programs are accredited by the appropriate state or national agencies.

  • The Education program is accredited by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
  • The Music programs are accredited respectively by the National Association of Schools of Music.
  • The Nursing programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
  • The School of Divinity is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools of the United States and Canada.
  • The College of Business is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
  • The Counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs.
  • The Exercise Science program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • The Physician Assistant Studies program is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

The University is authorized by the immigration authorities of the United States for the training of foreign students.

Complaints regarding the institution that cannot be resolved at the institutional level, particularly complaints regarding applicable state laws, may be directed to the Consumer Protection Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice.
