Dr. Berry is Professor in the Department of Religious Studies and Philosophy at Gardner-Webb University where he primarily teaches in the disciplines of World Religions and Missiology. Dr. Berry came to Gardner-Webb from the International Baptist Theological Seminary in Prague, Czech Republic where he was an Assistant Professor of Missiology and Director of the Institute for Mission and Evangelism for the European Baptist Federation. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work at the University of Kentucky, his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Philosophy degrees at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in Indiana, Kentucky and Florida and taught at several Baptist related Universities and Colleges. He has traveled to more than fifty countries. He has published two books, Pictures of Islam (Mercer University Press) and Islam and Modernity Through the Writings of Islamic Modernist Fazlur Rahman. He is currently working on The Thought of Fazlur Rahman. He has published several articles and presented several papers in the United States and abroad.
