Education Hall of Fame (HoF)

Induction into the Education Hall of Fame (HoF) is presented to an individual(s) who exhibits the traits/qualities of outstanding leadership and has made a significant impact in their field and in the community at-large. These traits/qualities include, but are not limited to, vision, values, passion, humor, empathy, strength of character, patience, wisdom, common sense, trustworthiness, reliability, creativity, sensitivity, and personnel development (i.e., recruiting, retaining/ promoting and building high performance teams). This individual is recognized as a role model both personally and professionally. The nominees will be alumni who distinguished themselves in the field of education as a practitioner and/or benefactor or practitioners and benefactors (not alumni) who have distinguished themselves in the field of education in the North Carolina and South Carolina area or at the federal level.
Inducted annually at a School of Education Awards Banquet (spring/early summer timeframe).
Chaired by the Dean of the School of Education the selection committee will be comprised of leading educators in their field. The committee will be comprised of 6 members plus the SOE Dean.
Nominations will be solicited, through the able assistance of our University Advancement Team as well as the community-at-large and directed by the Nominating Committee, in the fall of each year. A maximum of three candidates will be selected as finalists each year. The committee will then select up to three inductees each year who will be honored at the annual awards banquet.

The HoF wall will be located on the 3rd floor in Tucker Student Center on the main campus. It is a location that is befitting to both the inductees and the University. The HoF plaque will consist of a portrait along with an inscription of the inductee’s contributions.
The inductee will receive an engraved plaque at the annual dinner event in the spring/early summer and will be recognized and honored at the annual Summer Leadership Conference. Additionally, as a member of the HoF they will be invited to attend the spring/early summer HoF banquet to honor the incoming member(s) and will be a guest at each year’s Summer Leadership Conference.
The HoF will be supported by sponsorships which will be solicited by University Advancement Team along with the School of Education.
