As part of the Exercise Science major, you will be required to participate in a 300-hour supervised summer internship (EXSI 451) providing integral hands-on experience and exposing you to the job market in Exercise Science-related businesses and agencies. This internship will give you opportunities to apply your knowledge, skills, and abilities obtained through traditional coursework and experiential activities from the classroom. Prerequisites include candidacy, EXSI 432: Seminar in Exercise Science, and valid Adult CPR/AED certifications.

The required 6-credit-hour Exercise Science major internship (EXSI 451) must be taken during the summer. Students completing the internship (EXSI 451) will be charged the current summer tuition rate during the summer in which they are enrolled in the academic course (EXSI 451).

Students are required to maintain current Adult CPR/AED certifications while enrolled in EXSI 451 and complete a national credentialing examination through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-HFS) OR National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA-CSCS) at their own cost. Students may also be asked to complete a drug test and/or criminal background check while enrolled in EXSI 451.
