Alumni Spotlight - Jesse Roberts

Jesse Roberts graduated in 2011 with a major in psychology, and was involved in a multitude of service activities on campus during his time in Boiling Springs. He worked as a resident advisor and a peer leader, co-teaching a University 111 class and mentoring incoming students. He was active in both the Alpha Chi and Psi Chi honor societies.

Roberts is also the author of a children’s book, “Katie the Ladybug: Explaining Death to a Child.” The book focuses on grief, something Roberts knows all too well, having lost his mother at the young age of four; his father, when he was 16. Out of this loss, however, Roberts has developed a talent for children’s counseling.

During his undergraduate enrollment at Gardner-Webb, Roberts also interned for Hospice and co-wrote an article with GWU Psychology professor Dr. James Morgan examining bibliotherapy, or the use of literature to help patients open up and share their experiences.

Roberts was named the GWU Class of 2011’s Most Outstanding Male Graduate.
