GRADUATES IN EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT

The GEM (Graduates in Executive Management) program is an undergraduate program open to ANY major who completes the business courses required for GEM, participates in the overseas trip, and attends all Executive Retreats in Charlotte. It is selective in that GEM students must earn a 3.0 minimum GPA upon graduation. The actual current GEM average is 3.25 (cum laude).

GEM helps students obtain better jobs. Since its inception in 2000, 100% of the 74 GEM graduates have obtained good jobs or qualified for either an MBA program or Law School.

The international trip which is part of the GEM program gives students a competitive edge in the job market. While participating in the nine-day trip to Switzerland, Germany and France, you can earn three credits in BADM 396.

The annual weekend retreat in Charlotte is also included in the GEM program. During the two days in January, students have an opportunity to meet, learn from, and interact with executives from various corporations and businesses. These meetings often lead to job interviews with senior executives who have hiring authority and already know you through GEM. This is far more effective than students simply sending out resumes by mail or on the internet.

GEM students have an opportunity to take classes from GWU professors who have succeeded in the business and legal world. These experienced professionals stand ready to recommend you for a job and can often assist you in obtaining an interview.

Compared to what GEM students receive, the cost is very reasonable. For $2995 you get as many retreats as you can fit into your schedule, the European trip, a GEM certificate upon graduation, and the opportunity to take classes from top notch business professionals.

The $2,995 can be billed in installments each semester along with your tuition.

If interested, please complete the GEM information sheet. We will then send more detailed information for you and your parents.

To actually join GEM, a $200 non-refundable deposit is required. Make the check payable to Gardner-Webb-GEM. The balance will be billed in installments.

MBA students enter GEM on the same basis (educational and fee requirements) as undergraduates. However, they must maintain a 3.25 GPA.

In the current business environment, turbulence and uncertainty are constant, and the unrelenting speed of work, driven by technology and productivity, can make even the simplest of positions appear daunting. In times such as these, employers seek more than potential hires with a degree; they seek smart candidates with shrewd business acumen. Although it normally takes years of working in the trenches of industry to gain real, meaningful business experience, the GEM program at Gardner-Webb University presents a unique opportunity to undergraduate and graduate students to learn a portion of that experience in the classroom.
