On behalf of the Center for Innovative Leadership Development (School of Education) and the Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship (Godbold School of Business), we welcome you to our 2013 Summer Leadership Conference. The theme of this year’s conference is The Power of I2:Unlocking the Imagination and Innovation in Each of Us. According to Arne Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education, and Louis Gertsner, retired CEO & Chairman of IBM, innovation and unbridled imagination is the number 1 differentiator in achieving and maintaining success in any organization. Our conference this year will focus on the power of imagination as it relates to organizational leadership, school cultures, curriculum design, 21st Century skills, and implementing innovative programs. This Conference will also include addressing the roles of the executive in promoting, leading, and developing creative approaches to today’s challenges in business and education. As you will note, the conference agenda is organized around three strands: Teacher Efficacy, Organizational Leadership, and Research Presentations. Each is comprised of contemporary topics seasoned with experiential knowledge and proven best practices.
This year’s conference keynote speaker will be Mr. Walter Dalton, the 33rd Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina and newly elected President of Isothermal Community College. Former Lt. Governor Dalton also served as President of the North Carolina Senate and chairperson of the Education Committee. Additionally, there will be a number of key executives across industry segments that will be speaking on topics such as developing high performance teams, creating an environment for innovation, multiculturalism, strategic planning, marketing/social media advantage, and quality assurance. We are very excited about our lineup this year. We hope that you will join us this year, our 4th year of bringing together experts in their fields, best practices, and successful practitioners to share their experiences. We are confident that you will find these two days, insightful, stimulating and, most importantly, beneficial.
We Look forward to seeing you on July 29th.
Wishing each of you continued success,
Dr. A. Douglas Eury Dean, School of Education
Dr. Anthony Negbenebor Dean, Godbold School of Business
