Gardner-Webb University encourages all faculty, staff and students to participate in our campus recycling programs and to be aware of our environment and the impact each individual has in preserving our natural resources for future generations.

RECYCLING:

•    Please contact adellinger@gardner-webb.edu to request a recycling container.
•    Cardboard Recycling:  Two cardboard recycling containers are located on Campus.  One is located at the cafeteria and the second is located at Operations.  Please contact adellinger@gardner-webb.edu should you need assistance.
•    Florescence Bulbs and Ballast:  Gardner-Webb is in the process of replacing all florescence bulbs with energy efficient and environmentally friendly bulbs that do not contain mercury.  The ballast and bulbs are being recycled according to EPA regulations.  Please contact Operations 704-406-4330 for burned out bulbs in your area
•    Electronic Equipment:  Computers, printers, and media equipment can be recycled by requesting a work order for pick up via Operations 704-406-4330.

ENVIRONMENTAL DATA:

•    Cleaning Chemicals:  The housekeeping department is using green certified cleaning products.  Switching from traditional cleaning products to biodegradable, low toxicity or otherwise less harmful products can drastically improve the environmental profile of routine cleaning activities without sacrificing cleaning effectiveness.
•    RCRA Regulations:  RCRA is the resource conservation and recovery act.  This law was enacted in 1976 to put regulations on the handling and disposal of different types of waste.  The primary goal of RCRA is to protect human health and the environment from the hazards of improper waste management.  Gardner-Webb is committed to comply with this law.  Please contact adellinger@gardner-webb.edu with any observations, questions, or concerns regarding disposal of solid and hazardous waste on campus.
