Prior Learning Assessment
Gardner-Webb University recognizes that professional and community experiences can be a basis for substantive learning for many adults. Some of that learning may be equivalent to knowledge and skills that are mastered in formal college-level courses. Not all college-level learning occurs inside the walls of a college classroom.
Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) provides a method by which DCP students’ learning in connection with employment, community involvement, and volunteer activities can be evaluated for possible credit toward a Gardner-Webb University bachelor’s degree. The key to success in earning credit is the documentation of knowledge and skills appropriate to courses that are included in the University’s DCP catalog.
