GOAL Program Majors - Health Management

The Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Management, offered through Gardner-Webb's Broyhill School of Management, provides a fully accredited baccalaureate degree for those wishing to pursue a career in Health Management. Health Management is designed to prepare individuals who have a health related and/or business education background to assume positions in health care management and to recognize and to respond to the emerging health needs of a changing society.


Prerequisites

Prior to enrolling in the Health Management Program, the applicant should have the following in their academic transcript:

  • 60-64 semester hours from an accredited junior or senior college
  • 2 courses in Accounting Principles (6 semester hours)
  • 2 courses in Economic Principles (macro- and micro economics)
  • English 101 and 102 (Basic Composition and Literature)
  • 1 course in Introduction to Computer Concepts
  • 4 courses – Business Electives


Academic Curriculum

As with all GOAL majors, approximately half of the Health Management track consists of our Core Curriculum of Liberal Arts [see Core Curriculum], providing 33 hours towards the 128 hours needed to graduate. The other half will be particular to the Health Management major consisting of the following courses:

  • HMG 410 - Health Care Law
  • HMG 480 - Senior Seminar in Health Care Strategy
  • MGT 400 - Human Resource Management

  • BAD 318 – Principles of Marketing
  • BAD 325 - Business Communications
  • MGT 485 - Leadership
