Q: How many credit hours are required?

A: M.Div. – 90 Credit Hours (60 hr. Core + 30 hr. Concentration)

     D.Min. – 30 Credit Hours(18 hr. Seminars + 6 hr. Supervision + 6 hr. Ministry Project)

Q: How long does the degree take to complete?

A: Full-time M.Div. and D. Min. students can complete the program in three (3) years.

Q:Is Gardner-Webb Accredited? Graduate School? Specific Programs?

A: The School of Divinity is accredited by The Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada(ATS) as the basic professional degree.

Q: Is financial aid available for graduate students?

A: Yes. Scholarships and Grants are available for M.Div. students based on criteria such as church affiliation, financial need, and academic qualifications. Divinity students complete a Student Aid Profile (SAP) which is used to determine the student’s financial need. Scholarships and grants are awarded based on the results of the Student Aid Profile. Q: How many classes do I have to take to be considered full time?

A: M.Div. - Nine (9) Credit Hours or three (3) classes (3 credit hours/per class)

    D.Min. – This is a Part-Time student degree program.

Q: What are the requirements for full admission?

A: Master of Divinity Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • A grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale in baccalaureate work
  • Official transcripts from all baccalaureate and/or graduate level work
  • Submit Three (3) Reference Forms
  • Submit Church Approval Form
  • Pilgrimage Statement (1-2 pgs.)
  • Complete Immunization History

Doctor of Ministry Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Completion of the Master of Divinity degree (or its equivalent) from an ATS-accredited institution
  • A grade point average (GPA) of ―B‖ (2.75 on 4.00 scale) in M. Div. (or its equivalent) studies
  • Three (3) years significant ministerial experience beyond the first graduate theological degree
  • Official transcripts from all baccalaureate and graduate level work
  • Submit Three (3) Reference Forms
  • Submit Church Approval Form
  • Ministry Essay (10-15 pgs.)
  • Complete Immunization History

Q: Which semester can I start the program?

A: Divinity classes are offered in the Fall, Spring, J-Term, and Summer Sessions I & II

Q: What deadlines do I need to be aware of?

A: Applications for the Fall semester should be submitted no later than the first of August and applications for the Spring semester no later than the first of January.

Financial Aid deadlines vary according to financial assistance available to student. Please contact the Divinity Admissions office at 1-877-498-4723 for more details.

Q: What is the cost of the program?

A: M.Div. Program 2009-2010—$305/credit hour

     D.Min. Program 2009-2010 - $348/credit hour

Q: Do Graduate programs have any work experience requirement?

A: M.Div. – experience in the workplace is not required but highly encouraged to enhance and make practical the learning experience

    D.Min.. – Placement in a vocational ministry setting is required with at least three years of significant ministerial experience being beyond the first graduate theo-logical degree.

Q: What should my Undergrad GPA be?

A: M.Div. – 2.5 on a 4.00 scale for Undergraduate work

     D.Min. – 2.5 on a 4.00 scale for Undergraduate work and 2.75 on a 4.00 scale for M.Div. or its equivalent work

Q: What score is required for the entrance TEST?

A: There is no graduate entrance test required for the School of Divinity
