Welcome to Gardner-Webb University!

All New Students are required to attend all Orientation sessions!  In the unlikely event of a conflict between a scheduled Orientation event and another campus function, there is no conflict!  Orientation events are NOT optional and take precedence over any other event.

LYCC – Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center

Don’t lose it….
Keep your GWU ID card with you at all times.  Know where your Orientation Pocketpiece is located.  Oh, and don’t forget --- a pencil and paper will come in handy.

All student bringing vehicles on campus must purchase Parking Decals.  Parking decals are sold for $75 per year and are purchased at the University Police table located in Bost Gym during Orientation check in.

Cell Phones and Pagers need to be turned off or switched to vibrate during all Orientation Sessions.

Meals for students are free.  Family members may purchase meal ticket in Bost Gym during registration.

*First Year Students:  Any required Orientation event that you do not attend will be counted as an absence in your University 101/111 class.

Friday, August 15

8:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Welcome to Gardner-Webb University!  Check in for all New First Year Students (Residential and Commuters) in Bost Gym.  Obtain Check-in folder, pick up T-shirt, receive your group assignment and have your GWU ID card made.  ID cards must be carried with you at all times. This card is your access to your living quarters, meals, library
 DIMENSIONS, sporting and cultural events, and the Suttle Wellness Center.
 You may now proceed to your assigned Residence Hall, pick up your key in the lobby, and begin your check-in with Housing and Residence Education.  Your RA (Resident Advisor) will check you in, and you will receive a room inventory form to list any problems with your room.  A $30 hall fee is required at this time. Cash, check or money orders are acceptable.
 Students who do not have a room assignment should report to the Housing and Residence Education staff in Bost Gym for information about housing.

Academic Testing – English and Math – You should have notification if you are required to be tested. Students registered with the Noel Program, will attend the Noel Orientation and test at a later date.

 Welcome from the President - Dr. A. Frank Bonner, President of the University, will offer greetings on behalf of the University.
 Welcome from Tim Lanning, SGA President, will offer greetings from the students.
 Welcome from the Division of Student Development – Bruce Moore, Vice-President and Dean of Student Development, presiding
 Introduction of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters –First Year students split into assigned groups and exit to assigned locations

Presidential Reception/Dinner – Students and family members whose last name begins with:
 A-L are invited to enjoy a meal in the cafeteria first,
 M-Z are invited to meet the President and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Bonner, in Bost Gym for a reception. 

At 5:45, students and family members whose last names begin with
 A-L will proceed to Bost Gym for the reception
 M-Z will proceed to the cafeteria.  Meal tickets may be purchased for each person who accompanies the incoming students. (Student’s meal is provided).
