What is your favorite thing about Boiling Springs?

I love the vibrancy of university towns, yet Boiling Springs also retains the small-town, friendly atmosphere. Strangers wave to each other and show one another respect and courteousness; I appreciate that!

Who has been a hero or role model for you and why?

My father-in-law is a great role model for me. He is so wise in the decisions he makes and in handling situations that arise. His first priority is his relationship with Christ, but family comes in as a close second. He highly values relationships, not only family relationships, but those of his friends and customers as well. One of the main reasons we left the overseas mission field was so our children would have the benefit of learning from wise grandparents.

What motivates or energizes you?

Studying God’s Word and discovering things that I have never noticed before energizes me; I can’t wait to share what I have learned with someone. I enjoy seeing various themes interwoven throughout the Old and New Testaments. I treasure the visits I have made to Israel and how those have deepened my understanding of the Scriptures.

My favorite portion of Scripture is…

“ Therefore go and make disciples in all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and then teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you; and be sure of this—that I am with you always, even to the end of the world. (Matthew 28:19-20) This passage shows God’s plan for reaching the world. It’s not enough to just lead them to Christ; we also have the responsibility of teaching them Jesus’ commands so they have understanding which leads to obedience. That leads to multiplication, which is the only way to reach the nations. (OK, I’m finished “preaching.)

My hobbies and interests are…

Hiking, reading, golf, snorkeling, traveling, watching movies with my family, Bible studies, and eating (especially chocolate).

Most people would be surprised to know...

That I have ridden elephants quite a few times!
