As providers of financial services to you as a student, we often collect personal and sometimes sensitive information. Protecting the confidentiality of that information has been and will continue to be, a top priority throughout the University. The information we collect and the extent to which we use it will vary depending on the service involved. In fact, in certain cases, we may not collect or share some of the types of information noted below.

Gardner-Webb University collects information that will help us serve your needs as a student. Generally, we obtain your name, address, phone number, social security number, student ID number, date and place of birth, age, sex, and other demographic information. Other information collected will vary based on the services that we provide to you and may include, but not be limited to:
- Information from your application for admission.
- Credit card and banking information that you provide in order to satisfy your student account.
- Information provided on loan and payment plan applications and related forms.
- Information about your relationships with us, such as payment history and account balance.
- Information from third parties, such as employers or scholarship donors.
The information above may be obtained from you using various methods which may include information in writing or e-mail, during telephone or internet transactions, or from data gathering software when you are completing information on the Gardner-Webb University web site.
We maintain safeguards to ensure information security.
We have implemented and maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your non-public personal financial information. We use and share your non-public personal financial information to the extent minimally necessary and only with those employees who use your information as a means to service your account. They are required to respect the confidentiality of all student information.
We limit how, and with whom, we share student information.
First and foremost, we do not sell lists of our students, nor do we disclose student information to marketing companies. We may share any of your non-public personal financial information we obtain with affiliated and unaffiliated third parties as otherwise permitted or required by law. For example, we may share your information to protect against fraud, respond to a subpoena or court order, or to service your student account. We require each unaffiliated third party with whom we contract to assist in servicing your account to agree in writing to abide by the same safeguards and privacy standards required by the GLBA.
We will reaffirm this policy annually in writing as long as you continue to have an active student account with Gardner-Webb University.
