Paul Christopher "Chris" Gash

Paul Christopher Gash is from Kingstown, NC. He graduated from Burns High School in 2003. Chris began his college career that fall at Gardner-Webb University, where he played on the men's basketball team. In 2007, Chris completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.

Following graduation, he moved to Orange County, California to coach and work as a personal trainer. Chris has had the opportunity to coach and train athletes that are now playing collegiate and professional basketball, which continues to be a large part of his life. He currently operates Christover Athletics and serves as Gardner-Webb University's Men’s Basketball Team Chaplin.

Chris’ degree in psychology has served him well over the last 10 years. He has been an independent living coordinator for Cleveland County Department of Social Services, working with youth and young adults in foster care.

Additionally, Chris became the youngest politician elected in Cleveland County. He served as mayor pro tem in the Town of Kingstown from 2013-2016.

Chris has also answered God’s call to ministry. He preached his initial sermon on September 19, 2009. A year later, he was ordained. Since then he has served as Youth Pastor and Assistant Pastor at Palmer Grover Baptist Church. He has also earned his Master of Divinity from Gardner-Webb University.

Chris currently serves on the Cleveland County Schools Diversity Committee and the Gardner-Webb University Alumni Board. He serves as the Community Quarterback for Cleveland County and the Pastor of New Zion Baptist Church.

Chris is married to Sharece Fluellen Gash. They have two children, Paul Christopher II and Skylar Giselle.
