Full-time employees are eligible for a full range of benefits. Part-time employees are eligible for some benefits as well.
Gardner-Webb University offers group health insurance to employees who are scheduled for at least 30 hours per week. The PPO plan coverage includes copays for doctor’s visit, visits to specialists and prescription drug. Co- insurance includes payment at 90% after a $300.00 per calendar year deductible for in-network providers and 70% after a $500.00 deductible for those outside the network. Healthgram (formerly known as Primary PhysicianCare) is our third party administrator; and we utilize the Medcost Network. Current monthly costs to employees are $75.00 for individual coverage, $184.00 for employee plus one child, and $438.00 for family coverage. Tuition Remission is available for full-time employees (after a predetermined employment term) and offers employees and their dependents a chance to enroll in Gardner-Webb University with reduced tuition or tuition free.
Through GWU’s Flexible Benefits Plan, employees are offered a wide range of coverage. From numerous benefit offerings, employees can pick and choose the coverage that is right for them and their families. Insurance for Group Life and AD&D, Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Critical Illness and Optional Cancer Plan, and Accident are offered through Unum Life Insurance Company. Gardner-Webb University also offers Dental Insurance and Vision Insurance through Companion Life Insurance Company. Flexible Spending Accounts offer employees the chance to put aside money for out-of-pocket medical expenses or expenses associated with care for dependents. Employees who choose this option will receive a Flexible Spending Account credit card preloaded with the chosen amount.
Gardner-Webb University Retirement Plan
Gardner-Webb offers a very attractive retirement plan for employees with TIAA-CREF as the administrator of their plan. After selecting investment options that reflect a comfort level with different amounts of risk, and the appropriate amount of salary reduction (pre-tax), employees are ready to watch their retirement account grow.
After completing one year of employment, employees are eligible to receive matching funds of 8% of their salary by contributing at least 4% of their own salary.
