“It’s wonderful when the community can come together and enjoy a
day of fun activities, fellowship and great music,” said Dawn
Anthony, assistant director of alumni and parent relations at
Gardner-Webb University. “We are excited about this time where the
community can unite to celebrate the future of Boiling Springs and
Gardner-Webb.”
The town of Boiling Springs and Gardner-Webb University are
partnering together to celebrate the first annual Springs Alive
Festival to be held on Saturday, April 1, 2006. This event will be
held on the Gardner-Webb campus and many exciting events are
planned for the entire family throughout the day.
Events to occur during the Springs Alive Festival include the Tour
de Springs bike ride, YMCA Healthy Kids Fun Run, dedication and
ribbon cutting of the renovated Boiling Spring and numerous other
events. Activities for the entire family include inflatables, train
rides, carriage rides, field games, swimming, climbing wall and
others.
Numerous children’s dance and choral groups will perform on the
main stage including Cleveland School of Dance and Academy of
Performing Arts, Springmore Elementary ShowChoir, Boiling Springs
Elementary Singing Stars and Elizabeth Elementary Enscore Choir. A
variety of music will be provided by local musicians such as the
Muddy Fork Orchestra, 4 Anointed, In His Glory, the 42nd Street
Jazz Band and Mama Said.
Other events to take place during the weekend of the Springs Alive
Festival include Baby, the Broadway Musical presented by
Gardner-Webb Theater and Fine Arts. Also, the Cleveland County Arts
Council will sponsor a Family Film Festival featuring the best
family friendly films originally screened at “The Real to Reel”
