GWU Group To Appear on Prime Time TV

BOILING SPRINGS, NC – Gardner-Webb University’s Joyful Hands Ministry Team will be performing this Tuesday, January 30 on Nite Line, a live Christian talk show aired on WGGS – TV 16, Greenville, SC.  The show will air at 8:00 pm and will be rebroadcast the next day at 8:00 am.

Joyful Hands was invited to perform on Nite Line during a special “Deaf Reverse” program meaning that the entire show will be communicated in ASL (American Sign Language).  This enables a Deaf audience to participate in a program in their language as well as allow the hearing audience a perspective into Deaf culture.  The program will be voice interpreted for the hearing.

Gardner-Webb’s Joyful Hands Ministry is a group of over 30 deaf and hearing students who minister through the use of music and sign language.  Joyful Hands performs for area and regional church services, on campus events, civic and special events, and works with numerous volunteer organizations like World Vision.

Emily Robertson, a graduate and current staff member at Gardner-Webb, leads joyful Hands.  Robertson says the group creates joy for her and others, “The most rewarding part of advising Joyful Hands is the relationship I have developed with my students.  We have become a family and seek to worship Christ by sharing this experience with others.”

Carolina Christian Broadcasting owns WGGS and its Nite Line program is entering its 35th year on television, the longest running Christian program in the nation.  WGGS has a viewership of 1 million people through satellite and local tower transmission.
