
BOILING SPRINGS, NC – The Gardner-Webb University Department of Fine Arts is pleased to announce its latest event, a Gala Collaborative Faculty and Distinguished Artist Concert next Tuesday, April 3rd, 8:00 pm on campus in Blanton Auditorium, located in Hamrick Hall.
The concert will feature the piano quintets of Dohyanni and Schumann, performed by international award-winning pianist and recording artist Philip Bush, and the international award-winning string faculty of Gardner-Webb and East Carolina Universities.
Philip Bush is a pianist of uncommon versatility who resides in Columbia, SC. Bush graduated from Peabody Conservatory at John Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. Bush has appeared as a recitalist throughout North America, as well as in Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. He has also performed at Carnegie Hall and is known for founding “MayMusic in Charlotte,” a critically acclaimed and innovative festival.
Yoram Youngerman is an expert violist and has performed in major venues worldwide from New York to London. Youngerman has also appeared and recorded for the BBC, NPR, and the Israeli Broadcast Authority. He currently is a professor of viola and director of the Chamber Music Program at East Carolina University.
The program will also include the contributions of Emanuel Gruber, principal cellist of the Israel Chamber Orchestra and faculty member of the School of Music at East Carolina University. As well as Calin Lupanu and Monica Boboc, members of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and Department of Fine Arts for Gardner-Webb University.
Dr. Patricia Sparti, chair for the Gardner-Webb University Department of Fine Arts states, “We are exceptionally fortunate and blessed to have internationally acclaimed artists of such caliber performing the truly great piano quintets here at Gardner-Webb University. This is a not-to-be-missed concert event.”
