Boiling Springs, NC – The Gardner-Webb Department of Fine arts proudly presents the Gardner-Webb University/Cleveland County Orchestra with, special guests, the Crest High School Orchestra on Monday, November 17 at 8:00 p.m. in the Kathleen Nolan Dover Theatre, located in the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center.
Chair of the Gardner-Webb Department of Fine Arts and Director of the Orchestra, Dr. Patricia Sparti, will be conducting the performance. Featured Gardner-Webb student soloists will be Rosalee Johnson, soprano; Meredith Marlin, drum set; and Shane Bryant portraying President Abraham Lincoln. The program includes music from Gettysburg that will be narrated by Lincoln.
“It is a fantastic program that the entire family will love. Included are favorites, An American in Paris by George Gershwin, and Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky, and even a Beatles Hits Medley,” said Sparti.
The Crest High School Orchestra is lead by Peter Strickland, music director at Crest. Strickland is a ’97 graduate of Gardner-Webb and founder of the strings program in Cleveland County schools.
