Popular string duos to be featured during concert

Fine Arts Event Showcases GWU Faculty String Quartet


BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb Department of Fine Arts is proud to present the GWU Faculty String Quartet as they perform famous string duos by great composers Mozart, Ravel, Handel, and Kodaly. The event will be held Tuesday, November 17 at 8:00 p.m. in Blanton Auditorium, located in Hamrick Hall.

The Gardner-Webb Faculty String Quartet features Calin Lupanu - professor of violin and Charlotte Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster, Monica Boboc - professor of violin and Charlotte Symphony violin, Piotr Swic, professor viola and regular extra as a violist for the Charlotte Symphony, and Alan Black - professor of cello and Charlotte Symphony principal cellist. The duo performances will be as follows:

Lupanu and Swic performing Mozart,

Boboc and Black performing Ravel Sonata,

Boboc and Swic performs Handel Halvorsen-Passacaglia,

and Lupanu and Black doing Kodaly.
