Former Basketball Players Return to Campus for Annual Lettermen’s Day

Members of the Gardner-Webb University Men’s Basketball team will welcome former players back to campus for the annual Lettermen’s Day on Saturday, Jan. 27.

The event gives former players a chance to connect with current members of the roster through several activities planned throughout the day, including a pre-game meal hosted by the Bulldog Club and a post-game social in the Bulldog Suite. Lettermen and their families will enjoy reserved seating for the afternoon game against Longwood. While the former players won’t hit the court themselves, they will have a chance to encourage the current team and challenge them to reach their goals.

“I think this event promotes Gardner-Webb Basketball and athletics in a positive way because we do everything we can to honor and serve or former players,” shared Sagor Kapoor, director of operations for men’s basketball. “We want them to feel the Bulldog pride and want them to know that they are a part of history here at Gardner-Webb and they deserve to be recognized for that.”

With a decades-long history, Kapoor believes it is important to recognize the contributions of former Bulldogs to the basketball program. “Each year as people graduate, our basketball family continues to grow,” he explained. “Thirty years down the road, we want to continue to prioritize a family atmosphere in our program.”
