Suttle Wellness Center

The Suttle Wellness Center, located in the University Physical Development Complex, is a health and wellness facility that is available to all Gardner-Webb University students, faculty, and staff.

The Suttle Wellness Center contains a Fitness/Wellness room complete with various cardio and strength equipment. Complementing the Fitness/Wellness room is a Free Weight Room and a Functional Training Room. The complex also contains Bost Gymnasium and a heated swimming pool enclosed for year-round use.

Membership

Suttle Wellness Center Memberships* will include usage of the Cardio Room, Free Weight Room, Bost Gym and Bost Pool (during open swim). This membership level will also include any group fitness classes, excluding CrossFit.

Per Semester Membership

  • Graduate and Professional Students – $45
  • Degree Completion Students – $45

Per Month Membership

  • Alumni – $30
  • Alumni and Spouse – $50
  • Community Member – $40
  • Community Member and Spouse – $60
  • Student Spouse – $15

*All members must be 18 years or older.

Suttle Wellness Center Rules and Guidelines

Rules

(Including cardio room, free weight room, functional training room, and Bost gym)

  1. A current Gardner-Webb University ID card and active Wodify account is required for access to the Suttle Wellness Center. Non GWU faculty, staff or students may use the Suttle Wellness Center with an active paid membership through Wodify. Wodify accounts may be obtained through a Campus Recreation Staff member.
  2. Food and drinks will not be permitted in the Suttle Wellness Center. Water in a closed container may be taken to other activities areas. Glass containers are not permitted.
  3. Personal music devices must be used with headphones.
  4. Gardner-Webb University and the Suttle Wellness Center Staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Lockers are provided in the Suttle Wellness Center locker rooms and all users are encouraged to secure all personal items.
  5. Users abusing equipment or machines will be assessed a fine to recover the damages.
  6. Suttle Wellness Center staff members are authorized to respond to situations that may arise in order to keep the Suttle Wellness Center a clean and safe environment.
  7. No verbal abuse or profanity will be permitted while in the Suttle Wellness Center.
  8. Users must wear tennis shoes and t-shirts at all times while in the Suttle Wellness Center.
  9. All users are expected to be responsible, courteous, and safety conscious while using the Suttle Wellness Center.
  10. All users who disregard the Suttle Wellness Center policies will be asked to leave the facility for the remainder of the day.

    Suttle Wellness Center Usage

    Faculty and Staff

    Full-time and permanent part-time Gardner-Webb University employees will be permitted to use the Suttle Wellness Center with their Gardner-Webb University ID card and an active Wodify account. Faculty and staff may visit the Suttle Wellness Center to obtain a Wodify account or they can email Brian Arnold, Director of Campus Recreation ([email protected]).

    Spouses of Faculty/Staff

    Spouses of full-time and permanent part-time Gardner-Webb University employees will be permitted to use the Suttle Wellness Center. The Gardner-Webb University employee and their spouse may visit the Suttle Wellness Center to obtain a Wodify account.

    Faculty/Staff Dependents

    Dependents (ages 18-24) of full-time and permanent part-time Gardner-Webb University employees will be permitted to use the Suttle Wellness Center. The Gardner-Webb University employee and their dependent may visit the Suttle Wellness Center to obtain a Wodify account.

    Guests

    Guests may visit the Suttle Wellness Center. All guests must register and complete the Waiver and Health Information form within Wodify. Guests will be charged $5 per visit or they may purchase a week pass for $20. Guests must be 18 years of age or older to exercise or work out in the Suttle Wellness Center (which includes the Cardio Room, Free Weight Room and Bost Gym).

    Locker Room Facilities

    Men’s and women’s locker room facilities are located off the floor of Bost Gym. Locker rooms have changing facilities, restrooms, lockers, and showers. Lockers are free of charge, but you must provide your own lock. Gardner-Webb University is not responsible for lost or stolen items. You will need to provide your own towel and toiletries.

    Lockers are intended for daily usage. A locker agreement must be completed with staff for all individuals wishing to have a long term locker.

    Fitness Classes – Rules and Guidelines

    The Campus Recreation Office offers free daily CrossFit classes for Gardner-Webb University students, faculty and staff. Throughout the calendar year, the Campus Recreation Office also offers a variety of group fitness classes. All fitness classes are offered for free. Registration for specific fitness classes can be completed on Wodify. Please contact a Campus Recreation staff member for further instructions on registering for fitness classes.

    Cleaning Machines

    All Suttle Wellness Center users must spray and wipe down workout equipment after using to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Spray bottles and clean towels are provided by the Campus Recreation Staff at the Suttle Wellness Center check-in station, which is located at the front entrance of the facility.

    Checking Out Equipment

    Suttle Wellness Center users may check out various athletic/fitness equipment from the Suttle Wellness Center front desk with their Gardner-Webb University ID card. Basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, tennis equipment, disc golf equipment, jump ropes, and weight lifting belts are available for checkout.
