Intramurals
General Information
All roster forms are available outside the Intramural Office and they are also available online. Sport registration dates are shown on the Intramural Calendar. Forms turned in after the appropriate date will not be accepted. Game schedules and any other information will be posted on the bulletin boards outside the cafeteria in the Dover Campus Center and outside of the Intramural Office in the Suttle Wellness Center.
GWU Intramural Philosophy
The purpose of the Gardner-Webb University Intramural Program is to actively encourage, provide, and promote recreational activities to enrich the quality of physical, mental, spiritual and social life for the Gardner-Webb "Family". Having FUN is also a purpose of Gardner-Webb University Intramurals.
Eligibility
Any enrolled student with a valid Gardner-Webb identification card is eligible for participation. Full and part-time staff may compete on a team, as well as alumni. Any student who has red-shirted or has participated in a single intercollegiate game will be ineligible for intramural competition in that or similar sports during the particular school year. Also, individuals who have practiced with a intercollegiate team will be ineligible to play that particular sport. The ineligibility pertains only to the current school year in which the athlete participates. Participation in subsequent years is possible. Although certain limitations may apply.
Team Entry
Team captains must submit a team roster with the following information: captain's name, box number, phone number, email address, team name, and list of team members. These can be obtained in the Student Leadership & Activities Suite in the Suttle Wellness Center and they also can be found online. Once rosters have been turned into the Intramural Director, changes can be made on the roster. Any player who is added to a team cannot play the day they are added. They must wait 24 hours before playing for their new team. If the player plays without waiting 24 hours, the game in which he/she played will result in a forfeit for their team. NO ROSTER CHANGES MAY BE MADE AFTER THE LAST REUGULAR SEASON GAME.
Health & Risk Responsibility
Students, faculty, and staff are reminded that participation in intramural activities is voluntary. Neither Gardner-Webb University or the Intramural Department will accept responsibility for injuries sustained while participating in the Intramural Program. It is strongly recommended that participants carry medical insurance coverage.
Weather Cancellations
In the case of bad weather, all cancellations will be made by the Intramural Director. If enough time is allowed, signs will be posted around campus informing students of the cancellations. If there are any questions regarding cancellations, you may call the intramural office.
