Frequently Asked Questions
When do room changes occur?
Room changes typically occur during the third week of each semester. Dates are published at the beginning of each semester.
Can I have a pet?
The only pets allowed on campus are fish. The aquarium must be less than 10 gallons.
Can I have candles?
Due to fire code regulations, open flame of any kind, including candles and incense, is not permitted in the residence halls. Grills must remain 50 feet from any building while in use. Also, gas grills/propane tanks may not be stored within 50 feet of any building.
May I have a refrigerator or microwave in my room?
Refrigerators are permitted in residential facilities and can be no more than 4.0 cubic feet. In order to reduce the use of electricity, Housing & Residence Education recommends the use of Energy Star rated appliances such as MicroFridge. This is a special refrigerator/freezer and microwave oven combination appliance that is available to Gardner-Webb University students through Standards for Living.
Beginning in 2012-13 microwave ovens will not be permitted student rooms unless they are part of a MicroFridge unit. See the Standards For Living website to learn more about how you may rent or purchase a MicroFridge and have it delivered to your room just prior to your arrival on campus in the Fall.
Will I have internet access in my room?
What if I cannot live without my Java? Can I have a coffee pot or espresso machine?
You may have a small appliance such as a coffee pot or espresso machine provided that the heating element is not exposed.
