Academic Advisor and School Partnership Coordinator

The College of Education at Gardner-Webb University seeks a strong candidate to serve as the Educator Preparation Program (EPP) Academic Advisor and School Partnership Coordinator. The position reports to the Dean of the College of Education. The start date is August 15, 2021. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one advisement sessions with candidates
  • Develop a plan of study for each candidate and communicate requirements
  • Work with the Dean and program coordinators to develop and input the course schedule in Banner
  • Register students for courses each semester based on individualized plan of study and advisement
  • Assist with licensure processes, activities, and other degree requirements
  • Understand the objectives, requirements, and content of programs
  • Work with the Dean and Enrollment Services to support recruitment activities as needed
  • Address inquiries from prospective students in a timely manner
  • Assist prospective students with admissions processes as needed
  • Communicate with school partners as needed to market programs and develop partnerships
  • Conduct information sessions, online and/or face-to-face
  • Advise and register Degree Completion Program (DCP) and Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) candidates
  • Work with the Enrollment Management Office to support the admissions processes including requesting transcripts, reviewing applications, and communicating with applicants
  • Work with the Enrollment Management Office to assist with transcript evaluation, as needed.
  • Work with the secondary Residency Licensure (RL) programs to complete necessary North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) documents for admission to GWU and the EPP
  • Communicate with candidates throughout the admission process
  • Administrative duties as assigned by the dean

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience working at higher education institutions
  • Experience as an academic advisor
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite, Ripplestone, and Native Banner
  • Experience with working with multiple department, personnel and systems
  • Experience working independently – self-starter
  • Knowledge of education programs, NCDPI policies, Federal and NC education laws and regulations, and accreditation requirements
