Assistant Director of Student Engagement

Gardner-Webb University invites applicants for the full-time position of Assistant Director of Student Engagement. This position reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Students. The Assistant Director of Student Engagement will work with other campus partners to foster a campus environment that is vibrant and engaging, meets diverse student needs and offers opportunities for engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of late night and weekend programming;
  • Oversee the development of clubs and organizations to include the process for funding, club registration and the development of a club council;
  • Support the Dean of Students in advising the Student Government Association;
  • Evaluate current student experiences within campus life to include athletics, Christian life and academic areas to create and implement a comprehensive student experience;
  • Assist with the planning and execution of large-scale campus-wide traditions including Family Weekend, and Festival of Lights. Homecoming events, etc.;
  • Develop co-sponsored or complementary programs and forms strong network ties with campus organizations, departments, and campus programming committee;
  • Oversee Student Engagement publications and social media accounts;
  • Assess student involvement programs through the use of surveys and software;
  • Contribute to an effective unit by completing special projects and performing other duties assigned by the Associate Director of Student Engagement and the Assistant Dean of Students.
  • Represent the Division at University sponsored events.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education or appropriate field preferred plus three to five years of experience in Student Activities or related Student Affairs field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus, with the ability to operate in a collaborative and professional manner with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse university community.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Exceptional project management skills to include the ability to prioritize, organize and lead multiple, concurrent initiatives; seeing project to successful completion.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and appropriate.
