Gardner-Webb University’s Department of Communication, Art, & Design invites applications for full-time, tenure-eligible faculty at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin in Fall 2022. We value quality teaching, professional inquiry, and service to the profession, and we seek enthusiastic scholars who will likewise enjoy working closely with undergraduate and graduate students in a Christian environment. Faculty members will be required to teach on-campus.

Successful candidates will have significant experience as a practitioner of Photography, Videography, Graphic Design and/or Journalism with teaching and leadership experience at the college level. Exceptional candidate(s) may be considered as Chair of the department, arranging and supervising undergraduate students in communication-related internships, creating new programs, assessment and strategic planning, and advising and mentoring students and Faculty. The teaching load is 4/4, although release time is available for service as Chair and for service to the profession through research. Aspiring faculty are expected to consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the University, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the Department, while providing academic and professional advising to communication majors.
For full consideration, applicants must have a master’s degree in Journalism, Graphic Design, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, and a terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) with teaching experience is preferred (NOTE: a terminal degree is required for tenure and promotion). It is also expected that candidates will have highly effective communication and interpersonal skills, a record of successful interdisciplinary collaboration, and an independent research program and/or consulting in a communication discipline.
