Coordinator of International Student Services, PDSO

Gardner-Webb University invites applications for the Coordinator of International Student Services and Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). This position serves as the lead PDSO for the University acting as the main point of contact for Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). The Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with all aspects of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) including the tracking and maintenance of student records within the SEVIS program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports and advocates for international student visa holders at Gardner Webb University. Manages the broad spectrum of service areas related to student visa holders.
  • Supervises immigration and visa-related service functions in compliance with federal regulations and reporting requirements. Ensure Designated School Official (DSO) staff are fully trained on immigration regulations and updated on policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Acts as school liaison to state and federal agencies; such as Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of State, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Social Security Administration (SSA), etc.
  • Review policies/procedures; writes Annual Report; updates program information in SEVIS.
  • Supervise student staff members who work for International Student Services. This oversight includes but is not limited to, hiring staff, developing schedules, coordinating, and prioritizing workload, evaluating work performance, and providing professional development to students.
  • Coordinate, evaluate, revise, and conduct International Student Orientation and various workshops to create continuous learning opportunities for international students in accordance with federal regulations for non-immigrant visa holders, national and local laws, college policies, and sponsorship requirements.
  • Advise and mentor cultural student organizations to develop, assess, and implement events that address the cultural, educational, and social needs of a diverse student population.
  • Establish, document, evaluate, and report on measurable operational and learning outcomes for the International Student Services office and for international students whom are served.
  • Participate as a member of the Student Development Team;
  • Serve on University committees as deemed necessary;
  • Articulate, support, and uphold the University’s Christian mission and values;

Education and/or Experience:

Master’s degree in related area, three to five years related experience and/or training in a college or university setting. Demonstrated background in and experience engaging with international students.
