Coordinator of Student Engagement

Gardner-Webb University invites applicants for the full-time position of Coordinator for Student Engagement. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Student Engagement. The Coordinator for Student Engagement will work with the Associate Director and other campus partners to foster a campus environment that is vibrant and engaging, meets diverse student needs and offers opportunities for engagement. The coordinator will advise the Student Activities programming board, coordinate, and manage late night/evening/weekend programming and large-scale events, and support and coordinate new student program activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as an advisor to the Student Activities Advisory Board;
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of late night and weekend programming;
  • Assess student involvement programs through the use of surveys and software;
  • Maintain and coordinate a master calendar of student involvement programs;
  • Assist with the planning and execute large scale campus-wide traditions including Family Weekend, Earth Day, and Festival of Lights. Homecoming events, etc.;
  • Develop co-sponsored or complementary programs and forms strong network ties with campus organizations, departments, and campus programming committee;
  • Oversee Student Engagement publications and social media accounts
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of the New Student Orientation Program;
  • Contribute to an effective unit by completing special projects and performing other duties assigned by the Associate Director of Student Engagement. Orientation;
  • Represent the Division at University sponsored events.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education or appropriate field plus three to five years of experience in Student Activities or related Student Affairs field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer focus, with the ability to operate in a collaborative and professional manner with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse university community.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to present views in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Exceptional project management skills to include the ability to prioritize, organize and lead multiple, concurrent initiatives; seeing project to successful completion.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and appropriate.
