Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor in Health, Sport, and Physical Education

Gardner-Webb University’s Department of Health, Sport, and Physical Education (HSPE) invites applications for a full-time Visiting Instructor/Assistant Professor position to begin in Fall 2022 to provide quality teaching and oversight of our education and student teaching programs. We seek enthusiastic teaching professionals who will likewise enjoy working closely with undergraduate and graduate students in a Christian environment. Faculty members will be required to teach on-campus.

Successful candidates will have significant experience as a practitioner of physical/health education with teaching and leadership experience at the college level. Responsibilities include having oversight of the teacher licensure and student teaching programs, while teaching a variety of courses within the department, in particular those relevant to teacher preparation. Based on expertise, teaching responsibilities may also include courses in wellness and sport education, and the teaching load is 4/4.

Other responsibilities include student advising, service to the department, and service to the university as expected of all faculty members. Aspiring faculty in HSPE are expected to consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the University, the College of Arts & Sciences, and the Department, while providing academic and professional advising to HSPE majors.

For consideration, applicants must have an advanced degree (MA, MS, PhD, or equivalent) in Physical Education, Health Education or related field and NC teaching license eligibility, and K-12 teaching experience and expertise in teacher preparation and program accreditation are preferred. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. It is also expected that candidates will have highly effective communication and interpersonal skills and a record of successful interdisciplinary collaboration.
