Transfer Admissions Counselor

Gardner-Webb University invites applications for the position of Transfer Admissions Counselor for the undergraduate admissions office.  Gardner-Webb University is a top ranked comprehensive; liberal arts-based institution historically affiliated with the North Carolina Baptist State Convention. 

Requirements Include:

  • Coordinates the recruitment of the undergraduate traditional transfer student population 
  • Completes weekly goals of a predetermined number of external contacts, prospective student visits to campus, new applications, new admits, and new commitments to the University
  • Creates strategies to generate interest in Gardner-Webb University and to ensure there are an adequate number of applications to meet transfer student goals
  • Develops a good working relationship with community college advisors and professors to gain access to prospective transfer students 
  • Maintains a weekly report of all applied transfer students
  • Act as a spokesperson and professional representative for the institution at college fairs and other recruitment functions
  • Coordinate and conduct private visits to feeder community colleges
  • Conduct interviews and presentations with visiting students, parents, and groups
  • Attend admission functions held in the evenings and weekends
  • Set-ups Zoom meetings with various constituents including prospective students, college advisors, and/or parents
  • Maintain proper communication and follow-up with all applicants through CRM.
  • Works closely with other university staff and faculty to provide additional information to help prospective students commit to GWU
  • Works closely with the other student services offices on campus to ensure a seamless transfer admissions process including transfer evaluations and advisement
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective students, serving as a primary resource for them throughout the admissions process
  • Coordinate, oversee and maintain additional responsibilities and/or projects for undergraduate admissions team
  • Other projects assigned as needed by supervisor

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. He/she must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and current in social media.  He/she must possess personal characteristics and values consistent with the mission of GWU: friendly, approachable, patient, caring, flexible, professional, self-directed, trustworthy, committed to task, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy.  Must be willing to work non-standard hours including weeknights and weekends.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree from a four year regionally accredited college or university.  Previous sales, counseling, or higher education experience is a plus.
