Dr. Carey has also taught computer graphics, layout and design, and web publishing at Gardner-Webb. He spent 20 years as a photojournalist working with several newspapers and United Press International. His photographs have appeared in the Dallas Times-Herald, Washington Post, Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, theCommission, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Chronicle of Higher Education, Christianity Today and Chrisma. Dr. Carey was editor-in-chief for Missions Today magazine. Dr. Carey currently serves as one of the directors of the Southwestern Photojournalism Conference and serves on the board of directors of Christians in Photojournalism. He is a past president of the National Press Photographers Association, the largest visual journalism association in the United States.
