Department Ensembles

Students have the opportunity to perform on / off campus in a variety of musical performance ensembles (for a one-hour course credit).

The purpose of these groups is to allow the student the opportunity to experience quality music in an ensemble setting. Musicians participating in Fine Arts Department Performance Groups number over 400 each year.

A large number of non-music major students join with music majors/minors and community musicians to present inspiring and challenging ensemble music. These performances have run the gamut from appearances in Carnegie Hall to annual performances on the GWU Concert and Recital Series, the GWU Choral Clinic, the Festival of Lights, GWU athletic events, the GWU Choral Union Concert, the Student Day at the Opera, and the GWU Regional Concerto Competition.

Each Music Major/Minor is required to satisfactorily participate in performance group meeting their curriculum requirements.
