What to expect at Band Camp

August 9th move-in day

  • 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Move-In
  • 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Report to O. Max Gardner to sign in for camp, get fitted for uniforms, sign out instruments.
  • 7:00 p.m. Meet for dinner in OMG

August 10th – August 18th

  • 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Full day band camp begins, specific schedule will be given at camp
  • Meals will be provided on campus

What to bring to camp:

  • Water Bottle/Water Jug (large/gallon-sized)
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses
  • Hat
  • Athletic shoes (no slip-on shoes)
  • Athletic clothing (to be worn outside, plan according to the weather)
  • Spirit Day wear

Please make sure to bring your own reeds, instruments and mouth pieces you would like to use. If you are signing out an instrument, you will be responsible for its maintenance throughout the duration of the season you have it checked out. Please be prepared to have valve oil for brass players, cork grease and reeds for woodwinds and mouth pieces if needed. Percussion will have mallets and sticks provided, but please bring a pair of your own for practice purposes. 

Spirit Day Information

One of the ways we like to have fun during band camp is through spirit days. Please prepare and pack for the following spirit days! All days will be coordinated during band camp.  

  • Tacky Tourist/Beach Day/ Hawaiian 
  • Section Color Day- will be assigned during camp 
  • Tie-dye Day 
  • Wacky Wednesday- Crazy patterns, crazy hair, crazy socks, mismatched, etc. 
  • Gardner-Webb Day  
  • Neon Day 
  • Superhero day  
  • Favorite Sports Team Day
