Travel Policies

Gardner-Webb is known for offering experiential travel opportunities. From study-abroad, to athletic participation, to conference presentations, missions and service trips, Gardner-Webb offers these annually. All essential travel will be examined and only implemented within established health and safety protocols.  

AS OF JULY 24, 2020

Will (off campus) fall break, mission trips or student conventions still be available for students to participate? 

Student Development and Christian Life & Service are not providing fall break trips. The University is not planning to participate in off-site face-to-face conventions. Virtual options may be made available as an alternative.

Will (away) athletic events still take place? 

At this point, we are preparing to have fall seasons in all our sports. We have been in regular communication with the Big South Conference, all the member institutions, the NCAA and other universities on our (away) schedules.

We will take our lead from those universities. We will adhere to state protocols, and follow guidelines from local and state health officials as we move forward with decisions.

What other travel restrictions are in place? 

No international travel will take place for university personnel or any scheduled study-abroad trips. University-sponsored domestic travel is still under review and depends in part on current pandemic geographic trends. This is a fluid situation, and decisions will be made in consideration of health-related mandates and recommendations.
