Thursday, April 1 2021 - Friday, April 30 2021
Event Time: Apr 01 - Apr 30
The faculty members of the graduate counseling programs in the School of Psychology and Counseling are excited to announce the official proclamation by the Governor for April 2021 to be recognized as Counseling Awareness Month for the state of North Carolina.
In her role as President-Elect Elect for the North Carolina Counseling Association, Dr. Sharon Webb serves on the Executive Council that requested this acknowledgment from Governor Cooper. This acknowledgement is a product of dialogue between counselors and state officials regarding the importance of both clinical mental health counselors, school counselors, and others especially during these difficult times of ongoing COVID-19, racial tension, mass casualty incidents, etc. Mental health needs and requests for services are significantly increasing, and counseling professionals are encouraged that our work is not only recognized but is also affirmed in North Carolina. The proclamation recognizes the varied professional settings in which counselors work including those supported by the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and the School Counseling Program here at Gardner-Webb University. Faculty for these programs include Dr. David Carscaddon, Dr. Laura Carscaddon, Dr. Linda Greene, Dr. Sharon Webb, Dr. Lorell Gordon, and Professor Kim Williams-Thompson.
