Honoring Veterans Past, Present & Future

Gardner-Webb University will join with our nation to celebrate Veteran’s Day on Thursday, November 11. We will honor all who are active duty or have served including faculty, staff, students and alumni.

Our celebration will include:

• Displaying numerous flags around campus including the flags of our military branches.
• A prayer service.

All other members of the GWU community are invited to give thanks and remember our veterans by attending the prayer service and sharing with us on social.

Veteran’s Day Prayer Service

Gardner-Webb University will host a Veteran’s Day Prayer Service. All active and inactive military students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

• Presentation of Colors (GWU ROTC)
• National Anthem – Garrett Chitwood and Jacob Korch (GWU Music Majors)
• Pledge of Allegiance – Barry Johnson (Veteran, U.S. Coast Guard)
• Words of Welcome and Invocation – Dr. Downs (GWU President)
• Old Testament Reading – Nate Evans (Veteran, U.S. Air Force)
• New Testament Reading – Jonathan Hooks (Veteran, U.S. Army)
• A Veteran’s Reflection  – Jim Rennie (Veteran, U.S. Air Force)
• “America the Beautiful” – GWU Concert Choir under the direction of Josh Cheney
• Closing Prayer and Benediction – Tracy Jessup (GWU V.P. for Christian Life and Service; Senior Minister to the University)

We would like to thank all those special men and women who have served our country or continue to serve today. We remember you and pray for you on Veteran’s Day, and every other day of the year as well.
