About the Play

Trifles is one-act play that covers the aftermath of the murder-by-strangulation of a farmer in a small Midwestern town in the early 20^th Century. The story provides an insightful social commentary on the state of women under patriarchy.

Suppressed Desires comically satirizes the then-current obsession with dream interpretation: Henrietta’s obsession with psychoanalysis leads to a completely off-the-wall interpretation of a dream and very nearly to divorce before the absurdity of the situation is realized.
