World-Class Online Higher Education

Human Services Program Online

Experience Is The Difference

Gardner-Webb University has been offering online education since 1999, before some of our competitors even existed.

We were founded in 1905, and have long had a commitment to reaching our students anywhere they are. And while our beautiful campus is in the foothills of western North Carolina, our students are all around the globe.

Whatever online goal you seek, an undergraduate or graduate degree or innovative professional continuing education programs, you’ve come to the right place.

Be empowered to advocate for people and their needs giving you opportunities to enter and advance in a variety of social service career paths.

Human Services, by nature, is an engaging profession. The online classes push students to grow as future professionals. Each instructor and course drives students to do their best while supporting and nurturing one another, resulting in a network of future professional colleagues.

The program is designed with the knowledge that most of our students are balancing work, family, and community obligations. We love that about our students and want to connect academics with real life. The projects, class materials, and discussions in classes are built to further the connections between each facet of a student as a professional, family member, and community member. Students will leave the program having engaged with their community through class projects, established a thorough list of resources available in their community, and prepared to make a difference.

Bachelor of Science in Human Services Online

The Bachelor of Science in Human Services degree completion program is designed to help students holistically learn more about specific content areas, such as:

  • Case Management
  • Group Work
  • Intervention Models and Strategies
  • Human Development and Behavior
  • Ethical Standards for Helping Professions
  • Multicultural and Social Awareness
  • Crisis and Trauma Intervention
  • Professional Development

Students have an opportunity to choose a concentration in which to gain specific knowledge in a Human Services field. These concentrations include:

  • Substance Use and Abuse
  • Pre-counseling
  • Family dynamics
  • Nonprofit leadership
  • Generalist (where students can choose any three elective options)

All concentrations provide students a chance to deep-dive into an area of interest to them, not only providing marketability of their skills and education, but a way to customize their major. By integrating online learning and field-based experiences, the Human Services program will help you understand the structure and dynamics of organizations, communities, and society, as well as the nature of individuals and groups.
