Dr. Berry’s first book, Islam and Modernity Through the Writings of the Islamic Modernist Fazlur Rahman, published in 2003, has been translated into Arabic and has been published by the Arab Network for Research Publishing in Beirut, Lebanon.

Previous Recognition

Dr. Berry has just completed his term on the editorial board of Perspectives in Religious Studies for the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion. He offered several lectures at the South Asia Institute for Advanced Christian Studies in Bangalore, India. Dr. Berry will be presenting "The Other Qur'an: A Modernist View of the Qur'an," at the annual meeting of the National Association of Baptist Professors of Religion in May 2011 which will take place on the campus of Gardner-Webb University. He will present "Peace as a Foundational Principle of the Missio Dei" at the Baptist World Alliance Meeting of the Human Rights Division in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (July 2011). Dr. Berry is also editing an issue of Perspectives in Religious Studies on the theme of Muslim-Christian relations that is scheduled for release in the winter of 2011.
