Aaron Hinton

Associate Vice President for Advancement

Aaron came to Gardner-Webb in 2011 to serve as director of Church Relations. Throughout his career, Hinton has built relationships on behalf of the University with churches, foundations and individuals. He serves in various leadership roles for the Advancement team, including oversight of the Christian Service Organization (CSO)—the largest scholarship endowment at GWU. Prior to joining the Advancement team, Aaron spent seven years working at the NC Baptist Assembly at Fort Caswell. He has also led multiple mission trips to Tanzania, East Africa.

Hinton is married to Downey, who grew up in Boiling Springs and has a rich connection to the University. Her great-grandfather, Rev. J.L. Jenkins, was the president of Gardner-Webb in the 1930s while serving as the pastor of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Aaron and Downey have three children, a dog named Waffles and live in Boiling Springs.
