Shane Claiborne

Christians can make a major social and economic impact on the world by adopting the basic, fundamental examples set by Jesus Christ. That’s the message guest speaker Shane Claiborne will share at Gardner-Webb University on April 10 during a free program hosted by the GWU IMPACT Center for Christian Ethics & Social Responsibility.

Claiborne is one of the founders of Philadelphia-based “The Simple Way.” The nonprofit organization works to improve the lives of people through activities such as painting murals, helping kids with homework, sharing food, hosting neighborhood celebrations and more.

“The Simple Practice of Jesus,” featuring Claiborne, will begin at 7:00 PM in Gardner-Webb’s Tucker Student Center. The program is part of an ongoing series of events presented by the IMPACT Center, which promotes service learning, creation care and sustainability, social entrepreneurship, and events to advocate for ethical reflection throughout the campus and the community.

GWU students may earn Dimensions course credit for attending “The Simple Practice of Jesus.” Community members are welcome to attend.
