Gardner-Webb Alumna Encourages Students and Others to Pursue Their Dreams

GWYou: Tayuanee Dewberry

Gardner-Webb University Alumna Tayuanee Dewberry is the executive director of Right Moves for Youth (RMFY), a non-profit dropout prevention and youth development program, that has provided support to over 30,000 Charlotte-Mecklenburg students.

Dewberry, just like her mother, Carolyn Greene Dewberry, received a scholarship to Gardner-Webb to play on the women’s basketball team. In 1997, Dewberry graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. She returned to Gardner-Webb in 2006 to earn a Master of Arts in Counseling with an education specialist certification.

You can still catch Dewberry on campus. She’s the number one fan of #98 on Gardner-Webb's Football team. Her son, Tremayne Booker, continues the family legacy of athleticism and academic excellence at Gardner-Webb.
