Welcome Week: Aug. 17-21

GWU Move-In and Orientation Activities Begin Aug. 17

Welcome Week

Gardner-Webb University will welcome hundreds of new students—freshmen and transfers—to its campus this month for a variety of orientation activities.

First-year GWU students are set to move in and begin their college journeys Friday, Aug. 17.  Scheduled welcome events that day include a greeting from University President Dr. A. Frank Bonner, complimentary refreshments in the Tucker Student Center, and a time of fellowship and worship at the Bell Tower.

Students will experience an array of orientation offerings in their first days on campus.  Activities include music, games, contests, and information sessions on various campus organizations and services.

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 18, students will complete team-building challenges on Gardner-Webb’s Broyhill Adventure Course. New students and their families are invited to a family worship service Sunday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. in the Tucker Student Center. On Tuesday, Aug. 21, the Connect Fair will link students with a host of campus clubs and organizations, local churches and businesses, and free item giveaways. The fair is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

New transfer and returning residential students will check in Monday, Aug. 20.  Undergraduate classes begin Wednesday, Aug. 22.
