GWU Music and Theatre Departments Plan Events for Spring Semester

Performing Arts

Through the Gardner-Webb University Department of Music and Department of Theatre Arts, students have opportunities to perform on stage or explore the technical and design aspects of production. These performances are open to the public.

Additionally, the University’s Distinguished Artist Series offers students—and the public—performances by critically-acclaimed musicians.

Programs planned for this semester, include:

Feb. 10 — Distinguished Artist/Faculty Series presents trumpeters Charles Schulter, Antonio Marti and Tim Hudson. 7 p.m. Hamrick Hall’s Blanton Auditorium.

Feb. 21-24 — Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, A Musical Thriller, Dover Theatre

March 5 — GWU Concert Choir and Chorale, 8 p.m., Dover Theatre

March 19 — Distinguished Artist/Faculty Series, 8 p.m., Hamrick Hall’s Blanton Auditorium. Featuring the GWU Faculty String Quartet with violinists Calin Lupanu and Monica Boboc, violist Piort Swic, and cellist Tanja Bechtler.

April 11 — GWU Jazz Collective, 8 p.m., Dover Theatre

April 11-14 — Proof by David Auburn, Millennium Playhouse

April 16 — Staged Scenes, 8 p.m., Hamrick Hall’s Blanton Auditorium

April 25 — GWU Symphonic Band, 8 p.m., Dover Theatre

April 28 — GWU Choral Union with the Charlotte Civic Orchestra performing “Messiah.” 3 p.m. Dover Theatre

April 29 — GWU/Cleveland County Orchestra with special guests, the Crest High School Advanced Orchestra. 8 p.m. Dover Theatre

April 30 — Concert for a Cause. 7 p.m. held at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 502 W. Sumter St., Shelby. Fundraiser for the church food pantry. Canned goods, toiletries and monetary donations accepted.
