Education Alumni Honored

Three GWU Alums in Consideration for the North Carolina Superintendent of the Year Award

Three alums of the Gardner-Webb University School of Education are in consideration for the North Carolina Superintendent of the Year (SOY) Award.

Dr. Stephen Fisher (’03), Dr. Travis Reeves (’02), and Dr. David Stegall (’01) were each named Regional Superintendents of the Year and will be among those eligible to be named the statewide Superintendent of the Year in November.

Eight areas of the state are represented by regional winners. Dr. Stephen Fisher serves as head administrator for Cleveland County Schools, headquartered in Shelby. Dr. Travis Reeves is the superintendent for Surry County Schools, based in Dobson. Dr. David Stegall leads Newton-Conover City Schools, located in Newton.

2018 NC Regional Superintendents of the Year: Region 1 - Dr. Rob Jackson, Edenton-Chowan Public Schools Region 2 - Dr. Eric Bracy , Sampson County Schools Region 3 - Dr. Ethan Lenker, Pitt County Schools Region 4 - Mr. Michael Freeman. Anson County Schools Region 5 - Dr. Travis Reeves, Surry County Schools Region 6 - Dr. Stephen Fisher, Cleveland County Schools Region 7 - Dr. David Stegall, Newton-Conover City Schools Region 8 - Dr. Janet Mason, Rutherford County Schools

The 2018 A. Craig Phillips NC Superintendent of the Year will be named on November 14 at the NCSBA annual meeting in Greensboro.
