Alumni Invited to Reconnect and Celebrate GWU Community

Gardner-Webb University Homecoming 2018

Homecoming at Gardner-Webb University is a time to reconnect with old friends, honor the achievements of alumni and celebrate the GWU community.

“Homecoming is my favorite time of year at Gardner-Webb University,” shares Leah Robinson Clevenger, director of alumni relations, who graduated from GWU in 1998 and 2002.

“I look forward to seeing the tailgate village set up with red and black, spending time at the Bulldog BBQ Bash, swapping stories about our Gardner-Webb days, and being a part of the excitement in the stands as we cheer on our Runnin’ Bulldogs,” she describes. “My favorite part of Homecoming is sharing in the camaraderie that comes along with being in the company of decades of alumni.”

The weekend begins Oct. 12 at noon when the GWU Alumni Association hosts the Half-Century Club Luncheon for the Class of 1968.

On Saturday, Oct. 13, new members of the Gallery of Distinguished Alumni will be announced. Tailgaters are encouraged to set up in designated areas, and all alumni are invited to a free picnic with barbecue sandwiches, hot dogs, southern sides and desserts. (RSVP by Oct. 3)

“The Bulldog BBQ Bash offers the perfect setting for alumni to share their love for Gardner-Webb with their families and to re-connect with former classmates,” Clevenger observes.

The Runnin’ Bulldogs take on Kennesaw State University in Spangler Stadium at 1:30 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance or on game day. Gates open at 12 p.m. The 2018 Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will be introduced before the game.
