Elevating Preaching Conference 2017

GWU Partners with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship to Host Elevating Preaching Conference

The Gardner-Webb University School of Divinity is partnering with Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina (CBFNC) to host the 2017 Elevating Preaching Conference. “Nurturing Healthy Congregations” is the theme for the event, which will be held Sept. 18 in Tucker Student Center on the GWU campus.

“The daylong conference features some of the premiere preachers in America,” said Dr. Danny West, professor of preaching and pastoral studies and director of the Doctor of Ministry Program and Ministry Leadership Development. “Dr. Kevin Cosby is pastor of the historic St. Stephens Church in Louisville (Ky.) with over 10,000 members and multiple ministry sites. Dr. Kimberly Moore is a recent Doctor of Ministry graduate of Gardner-Webb and serves in Gastonia (N.C.). Dr. Wade Bibb is the pastor of Central Baptist Church of Bearden (Knoxville, Tenn.). Each is a gifted preacher and we are honored to have them with us. We welcome the community to join us for what will be a day of inspiration, encouragement, fellowship, and worship.”

The Elevating Preaching Conference began several years ago as a way to provide opportunities to model good preaching and nurture leadership for pastors, associate pastors, campus ministers, chaplains and laity. CBFNC co-sponsors the event with its four partner divinity schools (Campbell Divinity, Gardner-Webb School of Divinity, Wake Forest School of Divinity, and Duke Baptist House of Studies). The conference rotates each year to one of the divinity schools.

The cost is $35, which includes sermons, panel Q & A, morning and afternoon breaks/snacks, and luncheon. The event begins with registration and breakfast at 8 a.m. The deadline to register is Sept. 8, 2017.
