November 2018

Dear Parents and Families,

In the month of November, our attention turns to Thanksgiving.  Gardner-Webb University is thankful that you have entrusted us with your student’s college education and we endeavor daily to be good stewards of your trust.

Many students are looking forward to the Thanksgiving break and being home with family and friends.  However, if you have glanced at the “Life Cycle of a Student” calendar that is part of the Student Life webpage, you are aware that academically, it is a time when students begin to realize the end of the semester is near.  This often is accompanied by stress regarding grades and final exams.

The staff of the Office of Christian Life and Service, as well as the Counseling Center, are here as a resource for your student.  Whether they are in need of someone to listen to them, pray with them, or suggest healthy coping mechanisms for them, it is our desire to nurture our students holistically (mind, body, and spirit).

Parents of all residential students will be receiving a letter from me this month inviting you to participate in our Exam Care Package Program.  This is an opportunity for you to express your love and support as your student faces the stress, which often accompanies the end of the semester and final exams.  It also allows us another point of contact with your student when they come to our office to pick up their Care Package.  Proceeds above the cost of this program are used to support a variety of mission endeavors in which our students are involved both locally and globally.  Should you have any questions, please contact Teresa Davis, administrative assistant to the Office of Christian Life and Service (tdavis@gardner-webb.edu or 704-406-4277).

I wish for you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.  “O give thanks to the Lord for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever” (Psalm 107:1).

Grace and peace,

Tracy C. Jessup
Vice President for Christian Life and Service
Senior Minister to the University
